4 of the longest-range electric vehicles that aren’t Teslas

Tesla has a reputation for making some of the longest-running electric vehicles, which isn’t surprising given the automaker’s experience in the industry. You can see it in the Model X, Model 3 Long Range AWD, and Model S Long Range. They can travel 351, 358 and 405 miles. But not everyone who buys an electric vehicle wants to give their hard-earned cash to Elon Musk’s company. So here’s a shortlist of longer-range EVs for showers at Tesla.

2022 BMW iX xDrive50: 324 miles

The German automaker’s first crack at an all-electric production model is the 2022 BMW iX xDrive, and it doesn’t disappoint. This luxury SUV has two engines producing 516 hp and 564 lb-ft of torque with a 105.2 kWh liquid-cooled lithium-ion battery. The EV can zoom from 0 to 60 mph in 4.4 seconds.

The vehicle’s bold exterior might not appeal to everyone. But the interior doesn’t stray from BMW’s luxury roots, with genuine leather, faux leather and microfiber upholstery options. The large curved touchscreen on the dashboard is also suitable for electric vehicles. Additionally, a panoramic sunroof offers electrochromic shading.

As for range, the 2022 BMW iX xDrive gets an EPA estimate of 324 miles. According Car and driverCharging the battery from 10% to 80% takes around 35 minutes with a 200kW fast charging connection.

2022 GMC Hummer Electric: 329 miles

After GMC discontinued its beastly SUV in 2010, the Hummer returned as an electric pickup truck. It features Ultium battery technology, using large pocket-like cells instead of the cylindrical battery cells found in Tesla vehicles. The 2022 Mercedes-EQ EQS 450+ sedan is another long-range offering from a German automaker. With a 107.8 kWh battery, this EV has only a rear-mounted motor producing 326 hp and 406 lb-ft of torque. However, the more expensive EQS 580, with an all-wheel-drive system, provides a power boost of 187 horsepower. But the EQS 580 gets a lower range.

Starting at $102,310, depending Mercedes-Benzthe EQS 450+ is relatively peppy, delivering 5.9 seconds of acceleration to 60 mph.

Car and Driver ranks the 2022 Lucid Air Dream Edition lineup as the number one longest-range electric vehicle. With a 118 kWh battery and two motors, the Lucid Air impresses on almost all fronts. For example, it packs 1,111 horsepower and 1,025 lb-ft of torque.

It therefore benefits from ultra-fast acceleration: 0 to 100 km/h in 2.5 to 2.7 seconds, depending on Lucid Engines.

The cabin exudes luxury, with high-quality materials and plenty of comfort features. There is even a glass roof.

Plus, the automaker claims you can add 300 miles of range with just 20 minutes of charging.
