As Mardi Gras approaches, Acadiana hotels are preparing for the influx of visitors.

The owner of Clarion Point in Lafayette, Reggie Winfield, said his hotel is anticipating around 90% occupancy for the Mardi Gras holiday.

“If you lose an employee, obviously it impacts your operations if you lose five to ten percent. With a small business like ours, it can have an impact,” Winfield said.

Winfield says his hotel has made some adjustments during the pandemic to keep guests safe, including bringing items to rooms for guests who may have the virus to avoid further contact, and using a sanitary fogger in one room. after the departure of each customer.

“When the guest leaves the hotel, we enter the room with a fogger that diffuses a mist containing a disinfectant. And this gentleman hits every part of the room. So anything anyone can touch. Our disinfectant fogger will cover it. Winfield continued, “If you want to attend Mardi Gras or other events, obviously you’re in a big crowd, use common sense, but in your hotel room you should have no problem,” said Winfield. he added.

Winfield says that while demand in hotels is as great as it was pre-COVID.

Demand is starting to increase as events and conventions begin to return to the city.
