Bojangles to open Fort Mill SC restaurant in York County

Bojangles wants to bring his southern fried chicken and cookies home to a bustling area of Fort Mill.

Real estate owner Star Investment Group has asked the city to open a Bojangles at 322 Sutton Road, next to Love’s Travel Stop near Interstate 77.

The town planning committee could vote on the project on Tuesday.

The area has grown over the past 10 years with the addition of houses at Masons Bend, creating the need for a roundabout that serves a busy location between US 21, I-77 and Baxter .

The Charlotte-based fast food chain would open a more than 1,800 square foot restaurant, according to plans with an outdoor dining area. It would be accessible from Sutton, but only as a right turn, and from Country Lodge as a full access.

A sitemap shows a drive-thru that changes from two lanes to one, once customers have passed the order area. The drive-thru starts closer to the entrance to Sutton.

Bojangles, founded in 1977 in Charlotte, has approximately 760 restaurants in 14 states. More than half of them are in North and South Carolina, including 14 in York County.
