Hotel Figueroa launches a new rest and recuperation suite for the utmost luxury – Dormir
I don’t know about you, but a highlight for me when visiting a hotel is snuggling up in a plush bed – with high density thread count sheets – and sleeping like a baby.
Unfortunately, this does not always happen – inevitably housekeeping or “someone” comes knocking – or there is an obstacle to a good night’s sleep.
But you can count on dining and relaxation in Los Angeles at the award-winning Figueroa hotel. They are doing everything they can to make sure you get the full dose of Vitamin Zzzzz, with the rollout of its new rest and recovery suite.
With many of us collectively redirecting our attention to our mental, physical and spiritual well-being, a restful night’s sleep is often overlooked despite being essential to our overall health function. When we consider the concept of vacations, restful sleep in a luxurious hotel bed is often a priority, but why not take it a step further? To help those who have lost countless hours of precious sleep during the pandemic, Hotel Figueroa– is committed to the rest, recovery and well-being of its clients – and gives “R&R” a whole new meaning.
No one can deny that Covid-19 has taken its toll on our sleep schedules, with studies showing we are tossing and returning more than usual thanks to the added strain and pressures of the pandemic. Experts have even given the anxiety-induced arousal we all experience its own name: Coronosomnia. With little to no mental or physical separation from work and family life, #WFH’s newly adapted remote workforce is feeling the new strain of confused sleep and waking patterns and tired hormones, not knowing not when to wake up and when to rest.
With a focus on comprehensive wellness experiences and, more importantly, restful sleep, properties are responding in turn, forging new offerings to help travelers optimize their sleep schedules, whether for a work trip or a stay. The Figueroa hotel has transformed one of its signature luxury suites into a fitness and relaxation area “Zen den destination ”, packed with all the luxury wellness amenities you need to rest, recuperate and fully rejuvenate yourself for the busy days ahead.
When we break down the sleep experience, we often think of two things that are imperative to ensuring comfortable sleep: pillows and mattresses.
We all have our own pillow preferences, and no two people have exactly the same needs, which means that one of the most common complaints for a bad night’s sleep away from your own is bed comes down to the pillow. When booking your ‘repos-cation’ in the Rest & Recovery Suite, guests are encouraged to complete a quiz 2-3 weeks in advance to determine their own personalized pillow preferences using Pluto ™ pillow, the recently featured on Shark aquarium, a woman-owned customizable pillow company that makes custom pillows based on your body stats and sleep preferences, ready to welcome you upon your arrival at Hotel Figueroa.
Taking serious sleep a step further than the mattress itself, Hotel Figueroa brought in the world’s first sleep fitness company, eight sleep, for a fully customizable Pod mattress that intelligently adjusts the temperature overnight to maximize the quality of sleep. The Pod is dual zone, meaning each partner gets their own personalized climate by leveraging technology to bring individuals back to their peak energy levels each morning.
After waking up refreshed, recharged and relaxed after your perfect sleep, guests can opt for an in-room workout with the personal fitness mirror, FOR ME, and recover quickly with health supplements of shine, and post-workout recovery tool, Hyperice, before opting for a nice long nap.
In addition to the new Rest & Recovery suite at Hotel Figueroa, the urban oasis offers travelers near and far a short respite from the hustle and bustle of everyday life with all the key elements of a restorative stay, where in addition to recharging your batteries in the new Rest & Recovery Recovery Suite, you can also rest poolside in the iconic coffin-shaped swimming pool of the urban oasis, soak up the morning rays with a Pilates or Yoga classes on the outdoor terrace, enjoy a bite to eat by the pool at the Mexico City-inspired restaurant, La Casita, Driftwood Pool & Sundeck, or the new health-conscious restaurant open all day, Café Fig.
The Rest & Recovery suite is available for booking here.
Originally opened in 1926 as an exclusive hotel for women, the iconic destination underwent a redesign in 2018 that pays homage to its rich history, combining the original Spanish colonial splendor of the 1920s with contemporary touches that celebrate its roots. deep in Los Angeles. The reimagining of Hotel Figueroa exceeds the expectations of a new generation of guests with 268 particularly attractive rooms and suites.
Hotel Figueroa is the new member of the The Hyatt brand Unbound collection.
I chatted with the General Manager of Hotel Figueroa, Connie Wang, to discuss everything related to sleep, wellness and the rest and recovery suite!
Q. Tell me about the Unbound Collection by Hyatt brand.
A: Our collection is all about storytelling – hotels with a strong sense of time and place. We are an iconic downtown LA hotel. We were a hotel where women could check in without a chaperone 95 years ago. It fits perfectly into the Unbound collection. And you can redeem your Hyatt points here. You will feel transported but you can also accumulate your points!
Q. Why did the hotel decide to come forward and initiate a special sleep program?
A: Rest, recovery and well-being are at the heart of most of our clients’ concerns and what they have told us. We saw an influx of locals who wanted to stay. We are truly an oasis downtown. Minutes away from activities – but you can relax with a cocktail by the pool, surrounded by 74-year-old cacti. The pool is located in a mini cactus grove. We have the impression of being in an oasis. We’re an urban resort – with lots of different restaurants and bars – but you’re in the middle of downtown LA. Guests have told us that the hotel is a place of stress. So we decided to take it to the next level.
Q: This program debuted in August – what was the response?
A: It was great. We have had a very good response since launch. You cannot underestimate the power of peaceful sleep!
Q: Is the pool shaped like a coffin?
A: Oh my God (laughs) – we don’t know – we tried to find out in the records. Rumor has it that this symbolizes the burial of the Patriarchate, as the women opened the hotel in 1926.
Q: What is the number of threads in the sheet?
A: We work with two different companies and our thread count is 300 – 100% cotton and the most breathable linens.
We have really invested in a mattress with Eight Sleep, which adapts to your body temperature and the amount of support you need. If you are traveling with a partner, both sides of the bed can be personalized separately. You can also buy the mattress at a reduced price. We offer a Personal Strength fitness mirror (which you can activate with an interface and customize and select a fitness class), boxing gloves, and post-recovery training equipment – massage tools – which you can use in your suite.
Q: How much per night?
A: $ 450 during the holidays, and after that it will be $ 650.
Q: What makes the Pluto pillow so fabulous?
A: It’s a Los Angeles-based woman-owned business featured on Shark Tank – they make fantastic customizable pillows. You fill out an online questionnaire and they make you a personalized pillow – they deliver it to the hotel – and you can take it home. It is very unique.
Excuse me – yawn – I’m sleepy just thinking about this sleeping mattress!
