Boise Entrepreneur Week is back and entirely in person! With dozens of events, there’s so much to do and see. We’ve selected a few best bets for this week’s events.

tuesday october 25

  • Does anyone really want to work in house building?
    • 11am-12pm, JUMP – 5th floor, JUMP room
    • The pitch: Young people preparing to enter the workforce today have more career options than ever before. How can the homebuilding industry work with educators to engage with the emerging workforce to help them be better prepared or more interested in jobs essential to homebuilding?

  • Successfully Raising Funds in Boise – A Founder’s Perspective
    • 1-2 p.m., trailhead (8th and before)
    • The pitch: Travis Hawkes, co-founder and managing partner of Capital Eleven, will host a fireside chat with two local founders. Landon Cooley, Co-Founder of PestShare, and Jonathon Fishman, Founder of LeanLaw, will share their stories of building a startup in Idaho.

  • Panel of Past Pitch Competition Winners
    • 2 p.m.-2:30 p.m., JUMP, 4th floor, Inspire room
    • The Pitch: BEW’s proudest moment over the past 7 years is presenting awards to the winners of our pitch competition. Learn from the trials and tribulations of pitching at BEW, then start and run your business from previous pitch competition winners;
    • Featuring: Megan Lacy, CEO of Lumineye, Alexis Ranking CEO of Chillow and Adam Stock CEO of Cargo-Made. Moderated by Don Day of BoiseDev
  • Local solutions to global challenges for today’s entrepreneurs
    • 3:15-4:15 p.m. JUMP, The TENT
    • The pitch: A fireside chat with Dilawar Syed and Mayor Lauren McLean.
  • Women in Power Networking Event – Hosted by Idaho Women in Technology (iWIT), Women Innovators (W.IN), and Idaho Women’s Business Center
    • 5:30-7:15 p.m., JUMP, The Deck (5th floor)
    • The pitch: Join BEW and your favorite Boise women’s organizations for “A Celebration of Women in Leadership: A Networking Symposium.” Dress for the weather at this unique JUMP rooftop reception

Wednesday October 26

  • VentureCapital.org Trailblazer Panel: Entrepreneurs Navigating a Bear Market Tips and Tricks
    • 1-2 p.m., trailhead (8th and before)
    • The pitch: Mick Wiskechen, CEO of Idaho VCO, will moderate a panel led by founders and influencers on how companies can navigate the markets while scaling, raising capital and tips and tricks to survive and thrive .
    • Starring: Jess Flynn, Jodi Whittaker, Mick Wiskerchen, Melanie Rubocki, Amanda Reed
  • Higher Education in Idaho with Governor Brad Little
    • 3 p.m.-4 p.m., JUMP Pioneer room
    • The pitch: Join Governor Little as he discusses the state of higher education with the presidents of Idaho’s colleges and universities.
    • Starring: Governor Brad Little, Kevin Satterlee, Gordon Jones, Cynthia Pemberton
  • Cybersecurity pitch competition
    • 4:15-5:30 p.m., JUMP – The TENT
    • The Pitch: This is a “reverse pitch” contest, which means you don’t have to bring your own idea. Entrants will choose a problem provided by industry partners and propose a solution in the form of a new business. Teams will compete for cash prizes by solving cybersecurity challenges critical to the growth of the industry. At the same time, they will build a viable business for themselves and make valuable connections with mentors and industry leaders.

Thursday October 27

  • A Fireside Chat with Saalt Founder Cherie Hoeger
    • 9 a.m. to 10 a.m., JUMP Pioneer room
    • The pitch: Interested in doing good by doing good? Cherie Hoeger, co-founder and CEO of Saalt, shares the challenges that led her to creating a breakthrough product and the insights that came from building a successful business.
    • Starring: Cherie Hoeger, Karen Appelgren
  • Treasure Valley Tech Community Gaps – How can we improve our community to support startups and tech talent?
    • 10am-11.30am, JUMP – The TENT
    • The pitch: Treasure Valley’s tech community continues to expand and change with the influx of remote workers leaving the big cities to start new lives in Idaho. How can we come together and embrace change while identifying ways to continue to build community. From meetings, offices, events, fundraising and business development, there are many ways for us to improve. This is a community driven session where we can all come together to collaborate.

  • Main pitch competition
    • 1 p.m.-4 p.m., JUMP – JUMP room
    • The pitch: This year, Boise Entrepreneur Week will provide over thirty thousand funding. In addition to cash prizes for winners and runners-up, Connetic Ventures will select one entrant from the main pitch competition, Trailmix or Hacking for Homebuilding, to offer $100,000 in equity funding. The main pitch competition has allocated $50,000 for its grand prize winners and $10,000 for runners-up. The finalists are – Librarium, Pay4Me App, Galena Innovations, Shadowscape, Textual; Carehandler, Cafe Mule, Idaho Justice Project, TheOutfitter.Guide, Topline Revenue LLC, Soleni Shoes, LONDR, Dharma Dr and Chatterquant.
  • Trailmix Food Show
    • 3-4:15 p.m., trailhead (8th and before)
    • The pitch: Join us for our Food Expo to get a taste of national and local food and beverage startups. The food expo is the precursor to our Trailmix Pitch competition which showcases seven startups with exceptional products that will compete for a grand prize money and storage space at Albertsons.
  • Trailmix Pitch Contest
    • 4:15-6 p.m., trailhead (8th and before)
    • The Pitch: Join the Trailmix pitch competition where food and beverage startups compete for a cash prize to help launch their products. Judges will evaluate innovation, market pull, taste, shelf readiness for retail, ingredients and unique value proposition of the food product. You won’t want to miss seeing these seven startups pitch in our Trailmix Competition:

  • Meta and Kuna: How We’re Building the Metaverse in Idaho
    • 10:15-11:15 a.m., JUMP – Inspire room (4th floor)
    • The pitch: Meta’s community manager for the western United States will explain the anticipated economic impact of Kuna’s data center on the region, the company’s sustainability and water management goals , and will give you a glimpse into the future of social connection: virtual reality, augmented reality, and the artificial intelligence that powers the metaverse.

  • Looking into the crystal ball – What does Boise’s sustainable future look like?
    • 12:45-1:30 p.m., JUMP – The Loft
    • Boise is fertile ground for entrepreneurs interested in developing green services and technologies. While Boise’s quality of life and environmental and social amenities are the primary attraction for these “ecopreneurs,” supporting institutions and organizations are key to facilitating green business opportunities.
