The State Park Lodge that makes the ultimate Washington getaway
There are 124 state parks in Washington, and they are visited by nearly 40 million people each year. And while each of our parks has its own character and idiosyncrasies, only one has a former seminary that is now a sanctuary in its own right. The Lodge at St. Edward State Park opened in 2021, and it’s absolutely amazing.
In these uncertain times, please keep safety in mind and consider adding destinations to your bucket list at a later date.
Here you can hike, bike, host an epic picnic or birthday party, attend small outdoor concerts in the summer, swim in Lake Washington, and even get married. And now you can spend the night in the breathtaking lodge.

After that, this magnificent building stood idle, sometimes serving as the setting for a horror movie or a thriller. Finally, the Washington State Parks and Recreation Commission reached an agreement with Daniels Realty Development and fully restored the building.

Most of the 84 rooms are compact and comfortable – this was a seminary, after all. But they are filled with luxury amenities, making your stay magical. There are also a few spacious suites if you’re ready to splurge.

Then you’ll be ready for a cocktail or a glass of bubbles at Father Mulligan’s Heritage Bar.

This bar is open seven days a week, has a daily happy hour, and has live music on Thursdays.

Not only can you treat yourself to a relaxing treatment, but you can also unwind in the Vita Nova meditation room.

The chef here is incredibly talented and the team uses herbs and produce from the garden on site as much as possible.

Sometimes self-care means snuggling up on the couch and losing yourself in a good book.

The property is surrounded by stunning nature, and you won’t find anything else like it anywhere in Washington.
Treat yourself to a true PNW retreat at this luxury pavilion.
