This Surprising “Best Theme Park Restaurant” Isn’t at Disney World or Disneyland

USA Today’s new list of “The 10 Best Theme Park Restaurants of 2022” has a surprising number-one pick — and doesn’t include a single Disneyland restaurant.

According to the list, the best theme park restaurant in America is Confisco Grille at Universal’s Islands of Adventure in Orlando.

“This steakhouse offers a menu influenced by Asian, Mediterranean, Greek and other cuisines, conveniently located at the ports of entry to Islands of Adventure,” writes USA Today. “You’ll be hard-pressed to choose between onion soup and French pad Thai, pork belly banh mi or American burgers, sticky ribs and ahi tuna nachos, among other delicious options. This casual indoor setting is the perfect way to introduce the flavors of the world to family members of all ages.”

Confisco Grille, which opened in 1999, offers different delicacies from around the world due to its location in the “Port of Entry” area of the park. Its name comes from the “confiscated” decor stolen from across the park.

The USA Today Restaurant Rankings are a mix of reader and expert picks. A team of experts chose 20 nominees, from which readers voted to establish the top 10 ranking.

The only California restaurant to make the list is Mrs. Knott’s Chicken Dinner at Knott’s Berry Farm. The restaurant is a worthy inclusion; that’s why the theme park exists. After Cordelia Knott’s fried chicken restaurant took off in 1934, her husband Walter began planning a fake ghost town for diners to enjoy while waiting for a table. It became the first land of Knott’s Berry Farm.

Disney had a pretty poor showing on the list, with only one restaurant making the top five. Universal had another pick at No. 5, Mythos Restaurant, beaten by Dollywood’s Aunt Granny’s Restaurant, Trappers Smokehouse at Busch Gardens Williamsburg, and Yak and Yeti in Animal Kingdom at Walt Disney World.
