Two Puerto Vallarta restaurants are finalists for the 2022 Restaurant Merit Award

The National Chamber of Catering and Seasonings (CANIRAC) has been awarding Catering Merit for 31 years.

This recognition is of great value to the gastronomy industry, as it publicly targets and values ​​establishments and people who improve the gastronomic field, through their creativity, leadership, service and culinary excellence.

Each year, a call is launched in which applications are received at the national level. Before nominees are put to the vote, a panel of media experts conducts an exhaustive analysis of the nominees and assesses factors such as their contributions to research, innovation, promotion of the culinary arts, good hygienic management in the operation of their establishments. , service excellence and food quality, among other requirements. From there, the list of finalists is formed to achieve recognition.

This year, two restaurants in Puerto Vallarta became finalists for the national award.

La Tienda Grande is nominated for the best in the preservation of Mexican gastronomy nationally. The restaurant located on Calle Hidalgo and Calle Juarez, in Ixtapa, is a creative Mexican cuisine restaurant inspired by the traditions, memories and experiences of Puerto Vallarta chef Salvador Carrillo.

Icú is nominated for the best innovative restaurant in the country. The menu is based on ideas that find their basis in the dishes the two chefs grew up with. Being from Puerto Vallarta, seafood plays a big part in both and on the menu. One can find traditional recipes intertwined with contemporary techniques and the most fascinating product.

Very soon the qualification jury composed of distinguished personalities from catering and national gastronomy; suppliers; academics; advisers; journalists; advertisers and authorities, will vote and choose the winners of this prize, in each of its categories.
