Welcome Week Events Herald the Beginning of the Fall 2022 Semester Systemwide – WSU Insider

August marks the start of a new semester of classes and activities throughout the Washington State University system.

Kicking off the proceedings will be a host of Welcome Week events beginning August 13 and continuing through the start of the academic year.

Each campus offers an array of events and activities for new and returning students, their families, and the Cougar community as a whole:

Pullman

WSU Pullman Campus Welcome Week begins August 13 with the start of a week of free fitness classes offered by University Recreation as well as daily open houses at the WSU Brelsford Visitor Center presented by BECU .

On August 16, Terrell Mall will host the Student Career Fair beginning at 1 p.m. The following day at 6:30 p.m., Gesa Field will host the Pep Rally and New Coug Photo Welcome Week.

WSU Pullman will also celebrate the inauguration of its first campus chancellor with a series of events, including an inauguration celebration at 4 p.m. on August 18. On August 19, the university’s convocation will take place at 10:00 a.m., followed by the All-Campus Picnic and Resource Fair on Cougar Way.

Spokane

WSU Spokane Welcome Week activities begin with the WSU Health Sciences Campus Orientation on August 18. The following day, the White Coat Ceremonies for the College of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences and the College of Medicine will take place at 1 p.m. and 6 p.m., respectively.

And on August 23, the WSU Spokane Student Entertainment Board will host the Campus BBQ outside the Student Academic Center from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Tri-cities

WSU Tri-Cities Welcome Week takes place August 22-26 and will include fun events like a daily escape room hosted by the MOSAIC Center for Student Inclusion.

On August 23, the Tri-Cities campus will host an Engagement Fair from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. where Cougs can learn about different student groups and ways to get involved on campus. Counseling Services will be hosting a Coug Ice Cream Social beginning at noon on August 24.

TRIO’s Career Center and Student Services Program will also be holding open houses during Welcome Week, from 3-5 p.m. on August 25 and 11 a.m.-2 p.m. on August 26, respectively.

Vancouver

On the first day of the Fall 2022 semester, WSU Vancouver students can sign up for shifts by waving the WSU flag to welcome back their classmates between 7:30 a.m. and 5:30 p.m.

On August 26, the WSU Vancouver campus will screen “Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness” on the lawn between the undergraduate and multimedia classroom buildings beginning at 8 p.m. If the weather is not cooperative, proceedings will be moved inside Firstenburg Student Commons.

Everett

Welcome Week events at WSU Everett begin August 22 with a free grab-and-go breakfast and soda bar inside Floyd Commons beginning at 7:30 p.m.

On Wednesday, August 24, Floyd Commons will host an Involvement Fair from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m.

On Friday, August 26, the Everett Campus Picnic featuring free food, music, and outdoor games will be held on Flag Lane from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.

The WSU Everett Welcome Week website will be updated with additional events in the near future.

Global Campus

WSU Global Campus staff will host a series of virtual events between August 15-19.

Each of the first four events begins at 7 p.m., while Friday’s Cougs Coffee Hour begins at noon.
